TURBO-LUBE XL is a concentrated, water dispersible amide/ester complex used in small concentrations in fresh and brine water, as well as water based and oil based drilling fluids. Torque and drag reduction are accomplished as the coefficient of friction at metal-to-metal and metal-to-rock contact points is reduced. System treatment levels range from 0.5% to 2.0% by volume depending upon severity of friction encountered. Pill treatment levels range from 2.0% to 5.0%..

TURBO-LUBE XL should be mixed through a mixing hopper. Add to the entire mud system in a concentration of 0.5% to 2.0% by volume, depending upon severity of torque, drag, or bit balling encountered. Any mud containing gilsonite should be pre-treated with TURBO-COUPLER to prevent break-out. Add 1 gallon of TURBO-COUPLER for every 15 - 20 gallons of TURBOLUBE XL or 0.10% - 0.15% by volume in mud system.

Most often, application in pill fashion is more cost effective. Add 2.0% 5.0% by volume to a 25 50 bbl pill. For torque problems, sweep hole with pill while drilling. For drag, sweep hole with pill prior to making a connection or trip. For motor drilling, reciprocate or rotate pipe while pill is exiting the bit. Synergistic effect is often seen when used in conjunction with Premium Seal Fine.

In severe bit balling situations, pour a 5 gallon pail of TURBO-LUBE XL into the drill pipe during a connection.

TURBO-LUBE XL: Helps to dramatically reduce torque & drag providing true weight to bit, increase penetration rates, and help in intervals where swelling and sloughing shale are problematic. TURBO-LUBE XL will provide protection against stuck pipe and significantly reduce hydration of troublesome shale. TURBO-LUBE XL has a high affinity for metal and reacts with shale surfaces immediately to provide a layer of protection, which reduces water wetting. When exposed to increases in pressure and heat, TURBO-LUBE XL drastically increases the lubricity of the mud.
